The Coming of the Nowruz Festivities
The Persian New Year, or Nowruz, is a festival that marks the spring equinox and the start of a new year according to the Solar Hijri calendar.
Heaving myself out of bed, the enticing aroma from downstairs teasing my senses. The first rays of sunlight painted the horizon a fiery orange. A morning mug of steaming tea infused with honey and ginger then pomegranate molasses pastries sit beside strained yogurt saffron is a perfect harmony to start the day. Appreciation for Mama for making this delicious pastry ever.
Samarkand, once a jewel on the ancient Silk Road long before the Persian is where my family and I live. City life is comfortable and predictable.
